canine companions...

For the first time in 18 years I do not have a happy-go-lucky lab, or labs, dogging my every step, or begging me to throw that slobbery tennis ball one more time.

Blizzard was pre-blog.
But Avalanche, aka The Hound, has frequently
popped into this blog’s photos purposely,
or just photo-bombing the camera shot.

She was our loyal companion for 14 happy years.

missing Sundermann’s best friend

it's just embroidery, have fun with it!

I'm sorry for your loss, Cathy. Our husky was 14 in March and I can't help but wonder how long we will have with her at this point. We had a lab/shepherd mix that passed just before she was 12, so going past 12 years is new to us. She looks great, but has back leg problems/arthritis. Otherwise, she is healthy as a horse {and sometimes we think we have one when we are picking up her "deposits"}!

Oh, Cathy, my heart aches for you. It took us over 20 years after we lost our Keats before we brought Sadie into our lives. I'm thinking about you with this loss.

I'm so sorry Cathy. Our black Lab was the sweetest, most gentle dog ever. We loved her. xo

Oh dear Cathy..

I feel your pain and sorrow. I'm not sure if you recall that we lost our 14 year old English Springer about 6 months ago. It's still tough for me and I don't know what to say.. this too will pass and I understand how you are feeling now. We got a puppy quickly and she is the love of my life (little Layla;) Hang in there..

Cathy, I am so sorry. Losing a faithful companion is so very hard. We lost our Sam in 2005 and there isn't a day that I don't think of him. In time you will cherish the sweet memories. Praying now that you find comfort in the memories, the odd tuft of hair or the forgotten ball that will come your way.
