Tricia, leftover snippets of thread are called orts. Some stitchers just throw them in the trash, some throw them on the floor then vacuum them up (or not!), and some drop them in a container -- an orts jar. I like to use a glass vase because I think they are pretty - all the colors and swirls, reminders of designs stitched. My glass orts jar is overflowing so it's time for a bigger jar!
Kim - I loved spirographs! Wonder if they still make them...
Who knew that they had a name!? Wonder if snippets from needlepoint are called the same? We have loads of orts in a ziploc that we may have to display... xxoo C + C

Well now I know what an ORT is. Good to see your creativity is alive and well in 2013.
Look at all those great colors! I'll bet some bird would be really pleased to get a beak on those for the coolest nest around, Cathy! : )
That design reminds me of "spirograph." Do you remember that?
I just stopped by to say HI - so hi!
Ort. Hmmm. I'm sure I need such a fun name for my leftover snippets of yarn. ;) blessings ~ tanna
Oh dear Cathy I'm a bit slow, can you explain it to me?
