beware of squirrels.....

in a Norse mythology legend…

Thor took shelter from a thunderstorm under an oak tree.

Hence the belief that an acorn on a windowsill will
prevent a house from being struck by lightning...

and why popular window blind pulls are shaped like acorns

if you sit and shelter under the oak tree here…

Beware of squirrels gathering Thor’s acorns!

Squirrelizer...still one of my favorite iPhone apps!

for the birds.....

more road trips...

as the crow flies walks

questioning if I should really be in this lane?

and catching a game with a bird’s-eye
view in the stadium seats

“The Ugly Duckling”

“How could it think of wishing to possess
such loveliness as theirs?”

pickled pig lips.....

home of the world famous...

and Miss Oinkie

a sign that has been a roadside landmark over the years

a roadside sign that proclaims I have
almost reached my destination

The elderly gent there always offered me a sample when
I’d stop to snap a photo of Miss Oinkie.

Until this year…

Miss Oinkie and her world famous
pickled pig lips (PPL) is now gone.

And her lips did not squeal, she’s just gone…

Had I known, I would have somehow found a way to fit that sign in the back of my car.

Do you hear my family sighing in relief here?

Have you tried pickled pig lips?

foxing the quick brown fox.....

“The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog”

a phrase that contains ALL the letters of the alphabet

lazy dog (The Hound)...

...dreaming of the quick brown fox

earliest known reference...

March 14, 1885 in a journal for teachers
to use for writing practices

technicians during the 20th century tested typewriters with
the fox phrase calling the process foxing

now it’s used to display font samples and
to test computer keyboards

in Microsoft Word programs there is a code to see
the quick brown fox phrase

try typing  =rand.old()   into Word then hit enter…
for Mac 2011 type  =rand()  then hit enter...

did you see the quick brown fox phrase
successfully foxing across your screen?

it's just embroidery, have fun with it!

farm dinner.....

corn and tomatoes

the hayfield—just past the dairy barn,
next to the tomato patch

(where the gps is totally lost and off the map)

as the sun sets

and the moon rises

dinner was a-maizing
everyone was grinning from ear-to-ear

aw shucks...I really wasn’t aiming for the diners across
from me with cob splatter

dessert...corn crème brulee and green tomato pie

bushels of thanks  M.M. for the invite!

splish, splash.....

I was takin' a bath...

long about a saturday night

Rub-a-dub, just relaxin' in the tub...
Thinkin' everything was alright

Logan Circle, Philadelphia
formerly a square, and macabre site of public executions
now a circular fountain with frogs, turtles and swans...

Just a splishin’ and a splashin'

Hmmm, wonder what the punishment is
for breaking monogram laws?

it's just embroidery, have fun with it!

shaken, not stirred.....

We’ve stirred up more road trips...

more furniture assembly...
more traffic jams...

this time due to some Joker and a Batmobile
(the new Batman movie has been filming here)

…now to catch up

What’s been shaken with you?

it's just embroidery, have fun with it!
