roos

short for those leaping marsupials...kangaroos

males called bucks, boomers, jacks, old men
females called does, flyers, jills
young ones, joeys

national symbol of Australia

famous kangaroos...
Captain Kangaroo, children’s television star
Kanga and Roo friends of Winnie the Pooh
Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Mate — Rolf Harris hit song 1960
Qantas logo—national airline of Australia
Hippety-Hopper—Bugs Bunny cartoon character voiced by Mel Blanc

Signature gift from the Hasketts—well maybe not famous,
but well-known to their acquaintances on two continents!
who has only met one boomer/flyer at the zoo
not much leaping going on here!

Don't forget 'Skippy, the Bush Kangaroo" - and a really old one, Dot and the kangaroo!

Also Six White Boomers (for Santa's Australian run), from Rolf Harris as well as Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport (sorry, not Mate).

Who knew there are so many famous kangaroos?! No apologies - you are right, it is Sport not Mate. And now I cannot stop humming this song....

blogger question? When editing a published post, my photos get jumbled after the edit. Any suggestions welcome! Also considering switching to Live Writer for publishing posts and would love your opinions!

Roo is the cutest name! Of course it's Aussie, is there anything from there less than uber dah-ling and cool?! The last lounge photo is great :)

Too cute. I would love to see a real roo. We don't have any at the National Zoo. Love your towels.

Love all roos - in or out of the zoo! My dream is to do a photo safari in Australia and see them in the wild. Happy weekend!
